Introduction
"Jeongdongjin" is a beach located at Jeongdongjin-ri, Gangdong-myeon, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do. This is named after the episode that there was a ferry in the straight east side of Gwanghwamun Gate of Hanyang. This is famous as one of the best sunrise spots in the country, drawing many tourists for sunrise of the new year.

"Jeongdongjin" is known as a filming site of a famous TV drama titled "Hourglass." It becomes famous as a tourist attraction, since a sunrise train started to run from Cheongnyangni Station. This sunrise train can be available from many stations nationwide, including Busan, Dongdaegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, Jeonju and Chuncheon. Around Jeongdongjin, there are many tourist sites such as various beaches, Hourglass Park and Hwanseon Cave.

"Jeongdongjin" was known as a place where a king had offered sacrifice to the Dragon King of the four seas from the Silla Dynasty. Now, it has become a sunrise attraction by holding Millennium Sunrise Festival as a state-designated event in 2000. There is Jeongdongjin Station, which has been listed to the Guinness Book of Records as the station located to be closest to the sea in the world. There are nearby tourist attractions such as "Rail Bike" for looking around "Jeongdongjin" and beaches of "Jeongdongjin" and "Deungmyeong," so that visitors can enjoy bathing with families or friends.
